Fade- a transition that gradually changes from a color (usually black) to the image [fade in], or from an image to a color [fade out]
Other colors can be used, but be careful of the symbolic references they carry.
Red= blood
Blue= water
White= explosion

Dissolve- a transition that gradually changes from one image to another

These are the two most commonly used transitions and do not have the cheese factor.  Use them well.

Photoshop keyboard shortcuts

⌘ is command

⌥ is option

^ is control (ctrl)

⇧ is shift

⌘ z = undo (the most important keyboard shortcut- It is better to undo a mistake than to try to fix it.)


⌘  ⌥ z = step backwards

⌘ s = save

⌘ t = free transform

⌘ c = copy

⌘ v = paste  (always opens in a new layer)

⌘ x = cut

[ = makes tool area smaller

] = makes tool area bigger

⌥ while using zoom tool changes it from zoom in to zoom out
⌥ while using  quick selection tool changes it from selecting an area to deselecting an area
